Chicago’s South Loop is definitely an up and coming Chicago neighborhood, with great entertainment options including popular new restaurants, trendy lounges, a historic Greek Town, and world class museums. There is always plenty to do in this part of the city, and that’s why this week I’m featuring Chicago’s South Loop. Here are five reasons to choose Chicago real estate in the South Loop:
South Loop Attractions: Some of the greatest attractions located in the South Loop are the fantastic museums. South Loop residents have the Field Museum, the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium, and the Museum of Science and Industry at their feet. Spending leisurely Sundays at any one of these great museums is always a treat, whether its checking out the newest special exhibit at the Field Museum or watching an IMAX feature in the Definiti Space Theater at the Planetarium. Other attractions that you will be close to in the South Loop include Soldier Field, Comiskey Park, Millennium Park, and Grant Park.
South Loop Flavor: Another great benefit of living in the South Loop is your proximity to neighborhoods with a range of cultures. These neighborhoods include Pilsen, Greek Town, and Little Italy, which offer plenty of variety in food and flavor. You can head over to Pilsen for some fabulous authentic Mexican food and decadent margaritas or spend an afternoon lunch sampling delicious Greek food and sipping on Marsala (don’t forget to pick up some tempting desserts at one of the Greek bakeries). And if you are craving some home style Italian cooking, Little Italy’s many classic Italian osterias will hit the spot.
South Loop Cuisine – If all this reading about food making you hungry, be aware that the South Loop is home to even more tasty options. Check out the Custom House for a three course meal and their welcoming urban vibe, or head to Bongo Room for a fabulous weekend breakfast (it has been voted one of the best in the city). As a South Loop resident, you’ll also be close to Tamarind, where you can bring a big group of friends to enjoy some delicious sushi. Another great place with a variety of traditional American dishes is the popular Hackney’s on Printers Row – it is perfect for great for some post-work snacks and drinks before going home to your fabulous high rise South Loop condo.
South Loop Arts – The neighborhood is also home to numerous performing arts venues, especially since it is so near Chicago’s Columbia College, Art Institute, and U of I at Chicago, making it a great place to see some rising starts at a low price.
