Chicago condo sales continued to trend higher in June, with a total of 35 luxury units sold for a total of $60.4 million. Luxury condos are those priced at $1 million or higher.

For the Chicago luxury condos sold in June, the top five were all located in downtown Chicago–by far one of the best locations thanks to its proximity to everything from parks and the lake, to work, to dining and entertainment, all in the heart of downtown. One thing I’ve noticed among the luxury condos that are selling is that they offer exceptional square footage. In this month’s sales, square footage ranges from a “low” 3,020 to a whopping 6,700 square feet.
For these upper bracket properties, I’ve also seen buyers continue to gravitate toward the newer buildings, those that have been built in the last five years or so. I also find that buyers who are working with cash are able to get a much better deal on a property because they have that to leverage with the seller and can close a deal quickly.
Starting with the most expensive condo sale in June, here’s a closer look at the top five units sold:

Original list price: $6.975 million
Sold price: $6 million
