July was another banner month for the latest darling on the Chicago luxury condo market: 9 W Walton. This new construction building has been wooing buyers for the last several months, often among the highest priced sales in the luxury market. In July, 9 W Walton took 3 of the top 5 spots for most expensive condos sold, which ranged from $4 million up to $4.8 million.
July was an especially interesting month is that, for the first time in a long time, we’re seeing the top sales go to “ultra luxury” properties, or those sold for more than $2 million. In July, 16 of the $1 million-plus sales surpassed into ultra luxury territory. Along with 9 W Walton, we also saw the top sale for July in the Palmolive Building, one of the city’s most iconic residential properties that has endured among luxury buyers for decades.
