Window Treatments For Chicago Condos With Expansive Glass

A client in a Chicago condo at 600 North Fairbanks contacted Joseph Rice, of Joseph Rice Interiors, concerning their expansive floor to ceiling windows in the bedrooms. With so much exposure, the morning sun was far too intense, in spite of remote control shades. In addition, the owners wanted a softer treatment to cover the windows during the day.

Mr. Rice came up with an interesting double layer treatment. White sheers on special ripple fold tracks were installed for a sun filtering affect. Behind the sheers, a second treatment of white draperies was used to block the sun. Each treatment is individually controlled independent of each other.

The effect of pure white contemporary treatment on the large windows is very dramatic against the bare concrete ceiling. While the sheers allow for a softer look during the day, the treatment still allows for the magnificent view in this Chicago condo to be seen. At bedtime, the sunblock panels can be completely drawn to block out the early morning sun.

Not only is this window treatment a stunning look, it is also quite functional and should add value when the owners get ready to resell the unit. For information on how to deal with difficult and expansive windows, contact Mr. Rice at or call him direct at 773.271.2361.
